Description

The objective of the COMPAKBIN project is to develop a global solution to optimize technically and economically the management of the RSU, integrating innovative technologies, with the design of a new compactor container located on the surface, compatible with the current collection systems, self-reloading, and communicated with collection vehicles, while facilitating service to citizens, by having a recognition system, which makes it possible to migrate management costs proportionally to their level of waste generation and their capacity to recycle.

EnergyLab's Tasks

EnergyLab performed the following tasks:

  • Analyze systems and equipment (compressor and auxiliary equipment), as well as the integration of them, from the point of view of efficiency for carrying out the tasks of the compactor. To do this, an analysis of individualized details of technical variables will be carried out: consumption, food needs, volume and weight
  • Perform an analysis and conceptual design of the electrical hardware necessary for the correct operation of the compactor system, as well as for the battery charge in a fast way.
  • Analyze and size the accumulation system by batteries, taking into account load and discharge cycles foreseen in the operation.
  • Energy analysis of the current garbage collection process associated with a route, in order to have all the inputs that allow a total quantification. (fleet characteristics, consumption, operation, ….)
  • Life Cycle Analysis of the current process based on the data obtained in the energy analysis and other data provided by the company. To carry out this task, specific programs such as SimaPro and well-known databases such as EcoInvent will be used.
  • Real energy study of the application, monitoring consumptions and analyzing optimal points of improvement of the control systems and operation of the battery charge.
  • Life Cycle Analysis of the final process with the new prototype
