Description

This Mixed Unit in which EnergyLab collaborate with Gas Natural Fenosa since 2014, is funded by the Axencia Galega de Innovación de la Xunta de Galicia (GAIN), through the call “Mixed Units”, whose purpose is the development of high-impact R+D+I lines.

The main goal of the Mixed Unit of Sustainable Mobility is the analysis, design, optimization and development of new processes, systems and technological services linked to the NG and bio-methane use for maritime and agricultural mobility.

EnergyLab's Tasks

EnergyLab performed the following tasks:

Obtaining knowledge about:
- gas-powered propulsion systems in order to generalize their use in the maritime and agricultural sectors.
- combustion of gas in a thermal cycle engine adapted for marine and agricultural use.
- accumulation systems depending on the applied technology.
- impact of the composition of the fuel gas in the feeding system.
- obtaining biomethane with the most suitable characteristics for its use in maritime propulsion.
- regulation to propose new frames of fit of this type of systems.
- use of gas, with all the guarantees, as fuel in engines.
Obtaining the most optimized method for the elimination of biogas impurities and for obtaining purified biomethane.
Obtaining knowledge about new materials that can be used for the cleaning and purification of biogas.
Development and integration of different processes for the elimination of CO₂ in biogas.
Development of tools that allow the modeling of biogas cleaning and optimization systems in simulation programs.
Development of new optimized processes in the production of biogas to minimize cleaning methods and guarantee a higher production of high quality biogas.
