Description

The INERTIMAR project has as its main objective the development of a new in situ inertisation system for fish viscera for safe discharge using the residual thermal energy produced by the engines of the ships. This will be addressed from 3 specific objectives:

  • Know the problems associated with anisakis and other parasites, the limitations of the solutions currently available and the target fleet.
  • Design and build a prototype for the inertisation of fish parasites, by taking advantage of the residual heat from ships, adapted to the needs of its on-board installation.
  • Transfer the technical and organizational knowledge acquired in the project to the fishing sector.

EnergyLab's Tasks

The scope of EnergyLab’s tasks in the project includes the following works:

  • Design of the heat recovery prototype. Study, simulation and design of the prototype, based on the starting conditions of both the engine exhaust gases and the requirements for the elimination of parasites.
  • Start-up of the proposed system and tests at the laboratory level in the motor bank located in EnergyLab.
